Tally and peak-a-boo fortynine

At the KOA in Monticello Southernmost was awarded the most treasured trophy. Most hours worked at the campground in Daytona's bike week. Sandy, Dean, hubby and I (and a few more) worked approx. 880 hours in 10 days.

A few more people are missing in this pic
While most people went to the State meeting, some went to "Ouzts Too" - oyster bar and brought some back for the people who could not go.

Skip was shucking away on those huge suckers

All in all we were 15 people from the Keys, making our way to the State Capital. Even though the "elected people" decided to take a weeks vacation before Easter, we were there. Making a point. The ride was good, and as always, we had our police escort.

Quite a presence

We got to talk to Senator Bullard. Rupert will get in contact with him when we are back. Maybe he can help us getting more people/students to see our safety presentation. That would be awesome.

Rupert with Senator Bullard
Around 2 PM we were on our way heading west. All day it has been cloudy and windy. Some said we will get rained on. The sun played peak-a-boo and as we progressed it got darker and darker. Rupert had to watch out for all the heavy wind gusts, pushing us more than once a little side ways. Not realizing that we would gain an hour shortly before Pensacola, we called it quits 2 miles into Alabama. And boy, did the heavens come loose. It did not rain - it purred. The rain came sideways, the temperature dropped tremendously. Thor, the thunder-god was in a bad mood. We slept more bad than anything else and woke up to a nice and crispy 49 degrees next day. Blue skies along the remaining 190 miles, and we arrived in New Orleans by noon time.
