Back to the past

We got up early so we could make 350 km ( 220 mi) the easy way. Down on Hwy 7 along the coast to Antigonish. We were expecting a wee bit more from that drive. Don't get me wrong, it was a nice drive. But nothing in comparison with California or Maine. I don't even have pictures from our coast-drive. That alone speaks for itself. Along the road is Sherbrook. Sherbrook itself is a rural community on the east shore of NS. Sherbrook Village depicts a typical Nova Scotian village from 1860 to pre-WW1. With approximately 80 buildings  over 25 of those open to the public,(some were still closed to the public due to the off-season) most with interpreters dressed and acting like back then.  It is the largest NS Museum site.
I would assume they did not have such nice roads back in those days

We were most impressed to see a bunch of kids dressed like in the "old days". We have learned that every summer the village gets school kids that spend 3 days in the village. They will dress like you see in the picture and they will "life & work" as they did back when. What an educational experience. No TV, fancy phones. Interaction with each other, work together, (quilt, black smith and some were sweating their butts off sawing a huge tree log...) play together, grow some back bone. Wow! I have to say; Canadians know what education really means. (On a side note....I know a lot of people (mostly Europeans I have to say) that would sent their kids to Canada for education.) That's what I'm talking about!

Those school kids where just so happy to get their pictures taken. Smiling faces ( and soooo well behaved, too)

Rupert fits right in ;-)

Just a few more miles to Antigonish for our "end-of-day-destination. Being tired we opted for a pub right next to our hotel recommended to us. Oh boy. Worst choice we have ever made during that trip. Again, the waitress was super friendly. That can not be said for what the food did to our stomach.  We went to bed reeeeal early.
