Yup, we just did it in a day trip. Am I glad we did not
break camp in Cottonwood. Most
disappointingly, the info-movie in the visitor center in the Village was under
construction. We like those little information blips. Most amazingly of the Canyon
is its size. It is almost impossible to comprehend. Mather Point was right next
to the visitor center. (In case you wonder, we were at the South Rim.)

At the side of the road was this animal grazing. I believe
it to be a female elk/moose? What’s the difference?
| Must be used to cars. Did not even look up. |
From there we went to Dessert view. Best thing was the
“Watch-Tower”. If there would be no info one would think that it was build in ancient times, but it was actually done by an artist in resent times. She did a great job. The
inside was …whoa….

On route 89 towards camp we crossed more of the Navajo Land.
I am still trying to see how they have lived before the white man. Seeing how
they live today, it’s kinda sad. Maybe I don’t understand. Every now and then
you see some “communities”, or what ever you want to call it. Still trying to
comprehend how they manage. So I will make no assumptions and leave it at that.
I fell sad. If you like history; I highly recommend the book: Guns, Germs &
Steel by Jared Diamond! Now I am not only sad, but mad.
Tomorrow, on Monday we will make another stop at an “in
between” side trip. I can’t wait, so excited.
