Tucson the third

After yesterdays sight seeings we realized that we want to see more, so we added a night. Tuscon, retrospectively Arizona is great. I like it were much. Clean, quite...hmmm... Apparently, Arizona is a retiree - place. Nice climate, and a lot of dentists in the area. ( Who's saying old people don't have no bite anymore?)

Pretty cool this Rattle Snake Bridge in downtown Tucson

Today, (Wednesday, 4/30)  we did the Biosphere 2 attraction. 40 miles north of Tucson one can see this unreal structure. Modeled on Earth, this science center offers tours of a rainforest & ocean in a 3-acre greenhouse. Privately funded (150 million-some say 200) Biosphere 2 had two closure experiments, Missions 1 and 2, during which the structure was sealed with researchers living inside. The first, with a crew of eight people, ran for two years from 1991 to 1993. Following a six-month transition period during which researchers entered the facility through airlock doors and conducted research and system engineering improvements, a second closure with a crew of seven people was conducted March 1994 – September 1994.

Unbelievable what they did, all those different plants, even Mangroves.

To the public the project was a failure, since the "Biospherian" relayed on water and power from the out-side-world. Today the Biosphere 2 is a research center of the University of Arizona.
