After a rather long and undisturbed sleep of a whole six hours, we both woke around 4 AM. Rupert has a tendency of talking when I am awake, too. I shushed him and I got two more hours in after I throw the big down blanket over us. I should have gotten up by 6 AM. I was much more awake than I was by 7.30 when we finally got up. Just around the corner is the Mission San Xavier Del Bac.

A National Historic Landmarl. San Xavier Mission was founded in 1692.The oldest intact European structure in AZ, the church's interior is filled with marvelous original statuary and mural paintings. The church retains it's original purpose of ministering to the religious needs of its parishioners.

| I just had to take a picture of this guy wearing superman socks.... unbelievable |
After that we went to the eastern part of the Saguaro National Park. The scenery was soooo great.
 |
| These cacti can get up to 50' & 2 tons heavy. |
 |
| You would think when they "die" they just disintegrate. Not so, their structure is more like a tree. The outer shell is flesh and left over is the wooden structure. |
 |
| Not quite sure what they are. They are cute, that's for sure. Some referred to them as pack rats. |
After we got back from the National Park, Rupert went berserk. On our way through NM we "collected" some cacti along the way. We see more and more of them, all kind of different types. I know, you may think; no wonder she likes them, she is like them..:-) (you may be right-I can be "prickly"). Anyway, we went to a local Walmart and like I said before, Rupert went berserk. We bought some cacti to plant somewhere on our lot. Not quite sure where to plant them as some of them will get quite big. We'll see.
